Emergency Control Room Leyenburg Hospital
Hessing Telecommunication BV at work in hospitals.

Hessing Telecommunication BV has equipped the emergency centre at Leyenburg Hospital in The Hague with an integrated incident room system. This system, which was developed on an own management basis, brings together the key systems in the incident room on a single operating screen. This solves the familiar problem in which multiple screens are combined with a large number of cupboards, push-buttons and so on, and converts it into a transparent, user-friendly workplace.

In an emergency, the operators will now be able to switch the two parallel operating positions from an emergency position to a standard operating position for ordinary situations and back again, simply by pressing a button.

Hessing has integrated the following functions onto a single screen:

- The different types of intercoms for parking areas, taxis and lifts
- Video security surveillance, multiple camera links using a video matrix which are automatically (through movement detection) or manually operated
- Radio communication including a 5-tone control system for security (multiple channels are optional)
- Logging incoming alarm calls
- Warning notifications from essential systems such as:
- Disabled lavatories
- Alarm located in the nurses’ quarters
- Accident and Emergency service alarm
- Ophthalmology department alarm.

The system can be further extended to include:

- a P.A.B.X. (as a back-up for the regular central exchange)
- integration with an R.O.S. Disaster Callout System
- scripting to support the operators
